Environmental Roundtable

New members are invited to join The Will County Environmental Network during the group’s fall membership drive.

The Network will meet at 7 p.m., Wednesday, September 28 at the Jackson Township Hall in Elwood.  “Everyone interested in environmental issues is invited,” said Mary Baskerville, president of the grass roots organization founded in 1981.

Agenda items include the Network’s next Environmental Roundtable, slated for 2012. The roundtable will bring together a diverse group of local and state governmental, business and environmental leaders. The focus of Roundtable 2012 will be on groundwater: “Availability of groundwater and protection of its quality will be one of the key issues facing the region in the coming decade,” Baskerville said. “We hope the roundtable will begin the important dialogue on how best to protect this precious resource.”

The previous Network roundtable centered on the need for regional review of environmental impacts. A complete report is published on the groups website, willcountyenvironmentalnetwork.wordpress.com.

The Jackson Township Hall is at 100 West Mississippi Street. For further information, interested persons may contact Baskerville at (815) 546-3230.
